[3/26] We want to give back to the Sri Lankan people! We will do a charity restaurant (දානය Restaurant) [Karehan Shokudo].

Coming Saturday, March 26, 2022. We will have a charity restaurant. This is a collaboration project with Sri Lankan TV Ucchan Channel.

Why did you decide to do a charity restaurant?

Before Corona, I spent about a month a year in Sri Lanka, eating and learning Sri Lankan cuisine.

During my stay, I travel like a backpacker, so my main means of transportation is local buses and trains, and most of the accommodations are dormitories (shared rooms). I am usually alone.

You may think that I must be fluent in English or Sinhala, but my English is at the junior high school level (XD) and of course, I speak almost no Sinhala.

Because of this situation, well, we have a very hard time during the trip.

But hey, I can travel properly every time and enjoy Sri Lanka rather comfortably.

Why is that?

I can’t even speak English properly. I can’t even speak Sinhalese properly. Despite this, I am comfortable traveling alone because Sri Lankans help me a lot.

Sri Lankans are already, you know, really kind people.

There are many episodes, and I won’t bore you with them, but it is natural to want to thank Sri Lankans for their kindness and hospitality, isn’t it?

Event Details

We will serve rice and curry as a token of our appreciation to the Sri Lankans who are working hard in a foreign land amidst the Corona disaster.

All proceeds from this event will be donated to Sri Lanka.

  Sri Lankans who are staying in Japan (family members and lovers are also welcome)

  If you are not eligible, please donate for one meal (any amount, if in doubt, just 500 yen).
